Reiki
Reiki is defined as a universal life-force energy that is guided by Higher Intelligence to support physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing and evolution. If we interpret the word Reiki, we have “Rei” which means “Light” and “Ki” which means “Life-force.” Reiki is pronounced (ray-key.) It is a very simple, non-invasive technique that encourages stress reduction, relaxation and healing. The Reiki practitioner lays their hands on or near a physical point on the body that corresponds to certain nerve centers that store energy (chakras). As the practitioner holds their hands at that chakra point, the Reiki energy breaks up and releases energy blocks that are preventing healing. Reiki is very gentle, warm, pleasant, and relaxing.
There are several basic effects: it brings about deep relaxation, destroys energy blockages, detoxifies the system, provides new vitality in the form of healing universal life energy, and increases the vibration frequency of the body.
A Reiki appointment usually lasts one hour, but it can go longer or shorter depending on what you book. You receive Reiki fully clothed with shoes removed and in a comfortable position lying down. Before the session begins, you may want to talk about particular areas that you want to work on, or areas to avoid. The practitioners hands are lightly placed on the seven major chakra centers (or just over the area) of your eyes, the top of your head, your neck, chest, stomach, and hips. You may experience a sensation of heat or tingling. This is your body taking in the Reiki energy. Always remember that even if you do not feel anything, Reiki is working, and your body is taking in the perfect amount of energy. As the session continues, your body will begin its own natural healing process. You may feel more relaxed which is a sign that your body is letting go of blockages and correcting any imbalances that have developed.
The seven major chakras that run up the spine correspond to emotional energy, and blockages can develop when we hold onto emotional situations. Some people feel noticeable improvement in physical or emotional problems after receiving Reiki, and most people feel very relaxed, but also energized.
